Now we got our acoustic guitars and are ready to play. Today i‘m gonna teach you how to correctly place your fingers on the acoustic guitar because when the fingers are placed wrongly they might end up getting injured. I’m gonna assume you have never held the guitar before if yes check out the Lesson-two (holding your guitar). So first let’s start by knowing how to count our fingers.
1 = index finger2 = middle finger
3 = ring finger
4 = little finger
5 = thumb
Make sure your guitar is rightly tuned and held correctly. We are going to learn the basic chords (C, D, and G). Let’s move on to the chord shapes. Don’t worry about playing or making the chords sound perfect right away. Just focus on placing your fingers correctly and getting the shapes down. The strength in your left/right hand will come with time and some practice. Try to make sure that you are curving your fingers enough (like you are holding an American football) to play on the very tips of your fingers. This will help the fingers that you are playing with not to mute the surrounding strings.
Our first chord will be a C chord. Put your 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of the A (5th) string, your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the D (4th) string, and your 1st finger on the 1st fret of the B (2nd) string. Now strum all of the strings except for the low E (6th) string
Let’s move on to the next chord which is the D chord. To make your D chord, place your 1st finger on the 2nd fret of the G (3rd) string, your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the high E (1st) string, and your 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of the B (2nd) string. Now strum all of the strings except for the low E and A strings.
Then lastly let’s try to play the G chord. Put your 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of the low E (6th) string, your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the A (5th) string, and your pinky on the 3rd fret of the high E (1st) string. Now take a pick, if you have one, between you thumb and index finger on your right hand and give all six strings a strum. That’s your G chord. And that is it.

note: X ed string are the nuts so they are not played
