Learn how to play the Acoustic : Finger-picking

Today i'm going to teach you the finger-picking, or sometimes called finger-style guitar, this is the technique of playing an acoustic guitar by plucking its strings directly with picks that are attached to the fingers, fingernails, or even the fingertips.  Finger-picking is a way of playing the guitar that is standard on the acoustic guitar called the nylon or the classical string guitar.Players who are using acoustic guitars can play music that is arranged for arpeggios, chords, or even other elements like artificial harmonics. One distinct feature of finger-picking it that it permits the musician to play several musical elements all at the same time; this is due to the notes being struck by individual fingers as opposed to the hand working as a single unit. so lets get started first.

  • Center the palm of your picking hand over the sound hole (acoustic) or pick-ups (electric) of the guitar.
  • Curl your fingers and thumb at your second knuckle, and turn your hand so that your fingertips rest underneath the strings (so your second knuckles point towards the floor).
  • Your hand should be in a loose claw-shape, Let your fingers settle in this position - try to make them feel as comfortable as possible.

In today's we are going to play the C,D,E chords again using the finger picking style. but first lets name our fingers...
thumb - T
Index finger - I
Middle - M
Ring finger - R
Every time you see a particular chord you will be playing the same strings for that chord. For example
we are going to start with chord 'C'. there are so many styles of finger-picking the 'C' chord but i'm going to teach you the basics then you can learn the other styles with time and practice. for the 'C' chord you will be playing the following string. The  5th string(A) with your thumb, 4th string(D) with your index, 3rd string(G) with your middle, and 2nd string(B) with your ring finger. so go on and try it..
When you see the 'D' chord, you will be playing the following chords  the 4th string with your T, 3rd with your I, 2nd with your M and 1st strings with your R.
And  When you see the 'E' chord, you will be playing the following chords play the 6th string with your T, 3rd string with your  I, 2nd string with your M and 1st string with your R.
