Playing The Pentatonic Scale On Bass Guitar

The first thing you must know is that playing the pentatonic scale on your bass is the same as playing the major/minor scale with the removal of some keys(notes). It can be played on any key simply get your root note.

A major pentatonic scale comes from a major scale by removing the 4th and 7th notes. So a major pentatonic scale on bass is constructed with the structure: 1 2 3 5 6 of the major scale. Ex

For C major pentatonic scale we play: C D E G A and back to C.

Minor pentatonic scales can just be thought of as a minor scale, minus the 2 and b6 note. Therefore when constructing a minor pentatonic scale from it's original scale we can use the formula: 1 b3 4 5 b7. Ex
