Here's how to instantly find what key you are in when there are sharps(#'s) in the key signature of any song you want to play.
- know that the flats in any key always occur in the same order - BEADGCF.
- Sharps also occur in the same order -- except that the order is BACKWARDS from the order of the flats. Instead of BEADGCF, the order of the sharps is: FCGDAEB
If you could memorize them and know how they are formed and and what form they take then you will become a great pianist. you can memorize them by creating a silly pattern for them. Since they always occur in that order in any key All you do to find the key is: Go up 1/2 step from the last sharp = that IS the key.
